| Driving force for the culture is economy. Look at the history of the establishment of Mother's Day in the western culture, it is the commercialism: selling cards, flowers, candies, etc. that promoted and established this memorial event. If mother tongue can help making better business, then there will be more than enough driving force to encourage it. If it did not matter in the business world, it will be left behind pretty quickly even if government pouring resources trying to save it.
